The Supreme Court Wednesday admitted the plea of Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination (IPC) and reinstated Najam Sethi as chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). A three-member bench of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Ejaz Afzal and Justice Athar Saeed was hearing an IPC petition against the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judgement that had re-instated Zaka Ashraf as chairman of the PCB.
The bench granted leave to appeal against the judgement of the IHC and issued notices to the respondents for May 27. Asma Jahangir represented the IPC Later, talking to journalists on the Supreme Court premises, Najam Sethi said the Supreme Court order had given a clear message to those who wanted to turn the PCB chairman's office into the game of musical chairs. He said that it was the right of the executive to appoint the cricket board chairman.
He rejected the allegations of carrying out rigging as caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab in 2013 general election through '35 punctures'. He, however, flew into a fit of rage over a question whether he owned property abroad. He warned the reporter that he could be sued for making an allegation without making any evidence.
