The Karachi Port handled 188,903 tonnes of cargo comprising 163,463 tonnes of import cargo and 25,440 tonnes of export cargo including 5,359 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 163,463 tonnes comprised of 42,378 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,643 tonnes of general cargo; 18,602 tonnes of coal and 100,840 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo comprised of 25,440 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 5,359 containers comprising 2,929 containers import and 2,430 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 977 of 20's and 941 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and 30 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 672 of 20's and 432 of 40's loaded containers while 382 of 20's and 256 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Ital Moderna and Alam Maju carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. PAC Aries, Kota Lawa, Hyundai Singapore, Tradewind and Ocean Princess carrying containers, oil tankers and steel respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Kota Lawa, BW Orinoco and SC Hong Kong carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while five ships namely Kota Kasturi, Hyundai Singapore, Violetta, MT Lahore and Pyxis carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were six vessels viz. Japan, Sypress, Stolt Vision, MT Karachi, Mercini Lady and Oriental Lotus carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while three vessels viz. Interepid Republic, IVS Night Jar and Maha B carrying chemical, steel and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 46,124 tonnes includes 11,000 tonnes of palm oil; 962 tonnes of steel coil and 34,162 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,117 tonnes includes 7,071 tonnes of cement and 31,046 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,432 containers comprising 1,798 containers import and 1,634 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV Hansa Africa and CV CMA CGM Straus with containers and edible oil sailed out sea on Thursday morning. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Moliere, CV Hansa Africa, CV CMA CGM Straus, MV Ikan Sembak, CV Star Masaya, MT Golden Gate Park and MT Feng Hai-32 were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, steel coil, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Hugo Schulte, Golden Gate Park, Salta, Ashada and Al-Soor-II with containers, chemical, steel product, furnace oil and diesel oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were four vessels viz. CV Hugo Schulte, MV Golden Gate Park, MV Salta and MT Allian Heritage carrying containers, chemical, steel product and canola seeds expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FAP Terminal respectively on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV New Delhi Express and CV Rio Bravo with containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CV MSC Didem with containers is due to arrive on Friday at Port Qasim.
