I extend my warm felicitations to all the stakeholders on the occasion of award of 3G/4G Licenses and celebrating World Telecom and Information Society Day (WTISD) 2014. Ministry of IT & Telecom is fully determined to transform the socio-economic landscape of Pakistan into a knowledge based society capable of competing with developing nations.
It is pertinent to mention here that 3G/4G technologies are the tools to create jobs, develop human resources and create an eco-system for economic development of Pakistan. Pakistan has a huge potential to introduce ICT and its applications in areas like e-agriculture, c-health and e-education for benefit of its citizens. Policy intervention of MOIT created a transparent environment for successful auction of 3G/4G licenses. I congratulate the whole industry and PTA for their valuable contributions in achieving this milestone. This initiative will go a long way in facilitating the people of Pakistan to reap the benefits of latest technology.
The theme for this years World Telecom & Information Society Day (WTISD) is also very relevant to the occasion. We must realise that Broadband is not a luxury in today's world but a human necessity. Broadband penetration is closely linked to Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and I take great pride in mentioning here that Pakistan is already paving the way for sustainable development through broadband.
Ministry of Information Technology will keep serving the nation through implementation of Prime Minister's vision and agenda, to take forward this nation in acquiring next generation technological skills, knowledge and power to develop Pakistan as a formidable member of global community.
