The Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) has warned the government of strong public reaction if it attempted to undo the Islamic provisions of the 1973 constitution under the US pressure. The central leaders of the religious conglomeration at their meeting at Mansoroa on Saturday, counselled the rulers to resist US pressure for Repealing the laws regarding the Finality of the Holy Prophet(PBUH).
The MYC president Sahibzada Abul Khair Dr Muhammad Zubair, addressing a press conference after the meeting, said that major developments were taking place around Pakistan due to the elections in India and Afghanistan and an anti-Pakistan government was being formed in India. The enemy led by the US was trying to weaken and disintegrate the country, a situation similar to the 1971.
The MYC chief disapproved Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to India because of BJP leader's open anti-Pakistan and anti Islam statements. Speaking on the occasion, MYC Secretary General Liaqat Baloch said that Mian Nawaz Sharif had invited Manmohan Singh to his oath taking ceremony but the Singh did not turn up. Therefore, there was no sense in Nawaz Sharif's going to attend the Modi's swearing in. He said that neither the parliament nor the masses had been consulted on this important issue.
Liaqat Baloch further said the government was getting huge foreign loans for projects which were of no use for the general public. On the other hand, the problems of the common man were on the increase. Earlier, the meeting decided to make all possible steps to strengthen national unity and cohesion by holding seminars and conferences at divisional levels, promoting Muslim brotherhood by rising above sectarian and group biases.
