The Kenyan quartet of Mercy Cherono, Faith Kipyegon, Irene Jelagat and Hellen Obiri set a world record for the 4x1500m relay at the IAAF World Relays in Nassau on Saturday. The Kenyans clocked 16min 33.58sec for gold, smashing the previous mark of 17:05.72 set by Kenya in Nairobi last month.
The silver medal-winning US team timed 16:55.33 for a new American record, while Australia took bronze in 17:08.65, also a record for Oceania.
