"Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) has adopted a National Testing Services (NTS) to ensure recruitments on merit in the institution." Chairman EOBI HR Committee, Malik Tahir Javaid stated this while addressing a press conference here at Lahore Press Club on Monday. Deputy Director General, Kaleem Bhutta, Deputy Regional Head, Muhammad Amin, Deputy Regional Head, Khalid Mehmood and Assistant Director Ahmad Kamal Pasha were also present on the occasion.
Malik Tahir Javaid said that as per newly adopted recruitment procedures, all the 358 vacancies from Grade 10 to 20 are being filled through National Testing Services (NTS) to ensure transparency in the whole process keeping in view the Prime Minister's merit policy. He said that the NTS received around 22,000 applications against 358 posts out of which 510 applications were rejected while 20,538 applicants appeared in the initial test and the result of the initial test is expected in next two to three days.
NTS system is quite transparent therefore only right and eligible candidates would be able to get jobs, he said. He elaborated that the existing Chairman EOBI, Muhammad Ayub Sheikh is also a staunch believer of merit therefore the system has been adopted to improve the working of this important institution.
After the recruitment of existing 358 vacancies, the total number of employees of EOBI would reach 1,179 and another 300 people would be hired through NTS after the approval of the Prime Minister in near future, he added. The Chairman EOBI HR Committee said that due to an acute shortage of manpower, the EOBI offices in other cities are facing multiple problems and keeping in view the problems of the old age employees, the EOBI has appealed to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to grant permission for the recruitment of more people.
