The country's seafood export has increased by 14 percent to $292.127 million in July-April of fiscal year 2013-14. According to official figures, the seafood export posted a growth of $36.346 million during July-April of fiscal year 2013-14. In terms of volume, the seafood export went up by 8,864 metric tons (8 percent) to 121,456 metric tons in July-April of 2013-14 against the export of 112,592 metric tons in the same period last fiscal year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) says.
The seafood export surged by $15.747 million (68 percent) to $39.018 million in April 2014 as compared to the export of $23.271 million in April 2013. The volume of seafood export grew by 9,028 metric tons (103 percent) to 17,826 metric tons in April 2014 as compared to the commodity's export of 8,798 metric tons in April 2013.
