The Karachi Port handled 92,096 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,590 tonnes of import cargo and 25,506 tonnes of export cargo including 4,798 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 66,590 tonnes comprised of 37,971 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,154 tonnes of general cargo; 15,860 tonnes of coal and 5,605 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,506 tonnes comprised of 17,305 tonnes of containerised cargo; 451 tonnes of general cargo and 7,750 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,798 containers comprising 2,359 containers import and 2,439 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,089 of 20's and 633 of 40's loaded while 4 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 494 of 20's and 224 of 40's loaded containers while 595 of 20's and 451 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were seven ships namely Hanjin Louisiana, MOL Direction, Cape Marin, Stolt Vision, Fareast Sunny, Maha-B and Ikan Parang carrying containers, oil tanker, general cargo and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Posen, Intrepid Republic, Yukon Star and Maha-B carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely YM Eminence carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Kota Kamil and Tradewind carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There was one vessel viz. Kota Kamil carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while nine vessels viz. Ponente, PAC Aries, Mataquito, Hyundai Colombo, Silver Point, Oriental Marguerite, BBC Houston, Ikan Salman and Daebo Pohang carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and iron powder respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total export cargo of 27,383 tonnes includes 5,666 tonnes of cement and 21,717 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,346 containers comprising 1,203 containers import and 1,143 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were four ships namely MV Ikan Sembak, MT Salta, MT Dl Clover and MV Mukarnas with containers, chemical, canola seeds and diesel oil sailed out sea on Tuesday morning.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Atlanta, CV Safmarin Ngami, MV Ikan Sembak, MT Salta, MV Ocean Princess, MV DL Clover, MT Chang An-1 and MT Mukarnas were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, steel coil, steel pipes, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely Ikan Parang, Fang Hai-32, RBD Anema & Core and Donga Penous with cement, chemical, furnace oil and edible oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There were five vessels viz. CV Sudair, CV Maersk Kalamata, MV Ikan Parang, MV Interpid Republic and MT RBD Anema & Core carrying containers, cement and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Corneille and CV Hansa Africa with containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
