The Karachi Port handled 59,358 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,219 tonnes of import cargo and 11,139 tonnes of export cargo including 1,232 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 48,219 tonnes comprised of 959 tonnes of containerised cargo; 58 tonnes of general cargo; 17,006 tonnes of coal and 30,196 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 11,139 tonnes comprised of 7,039 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of general cargo and 3,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 1,232 containers comprising 76 containers import and 1,156 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 24 of 20's and 16 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 126 of 20's and 216 of 40's loaded containers while 92 of 20's and 253 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Posen, YM Eminence and Intrepid Republic carrying containers, oil tanker, general cargo and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. Kota Kamil, MT Quetta and Sea Merchant carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Tradewind and HTC Alfa carrying and oil tanker and coal sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Ponente carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday. There were six vessels viz. Mataquito, Hyundai Colombo, Silver Point, Oriental Marguerite, BBC Houston and Daebo Pohang carrying containers, oil tankers, units and iron powder due to arrive on Wednesday, while six vessels viz. Naira, Cosco Kawasaki, APL Sokhna, FPMC-17, Ikan Salman and Somerset carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and cement respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 49,955 tonnes includes 15,817 tonnes of furnace oil; 2,500 tonnes of edible oil; 8,580 tonnes of chemical and 23,058 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 31,644 tonnes includes 6,087 tonnes of cement and 25,557 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were three ships namely CV Sudair, CV Safmarin Ngami and MV Intrepid Republic with containers and chemical sailed out sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Kalamata with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Sudair, CV Safmarin Ngami, CV Maersk Kalamata, MV Ikan Sembak, MV Intrepid Republic, MT RBD Anima-e-Core and MT Donga Peneus were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely CMA CGM Cornelle, Hansa Africa, pamison and Fang Hai-32 with containers, furnace oil and edible oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were six vessels carrying containers, cement, chemical, furnace oil and edible oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal FOTCO Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV CMA CGM Cornelle with containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
