At least four persons including two pilots were killed while nine others injured when a Pakistan Air Force's (PAF) training aircraft crashed during a routine operational training mission near Baldia Town, here on Tuesday. Both the pilots, Wing Commander Khurram Sammad and Squadron Leader Umair Elahi died in the crash. Soon after the accident, PAF team immediately dispatched fire tenders and ambulances for the rescue and relief operations at the site.
A board of inquiry has been constituted by Air Headquarters to determine the causes of the crash and as per the rules it will provide compensation for the loss of life, property and medical expenses to the injured. A police official said: "Both pilots embraced martyrdom in the crash today while two people on the ground were also killed and nine other injured. Two buses parked at the terminal were damaged."
