Earthquake Reconstruction, Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) has set a target to complete 69 development projects funded by Islamic Development Bank, costing US $93 million in 11 months in three districts of Hazara Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a monthly project review meeting regarding the progress of completed, under construction and yet to be started projects were discussed. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Chairman Erra Major General Muhammad Azeem Asif.
The deputy chairman directed all the project directors to complete on-going projects and remove impediments by finding amicable solutions to the construction of projects. The Director General (DG) Erra donor and sponsor Abid Hussain apprised the meeting about the action plan to complete the IDB funded 69 projects within eleven months.
Sharing the details in the meeting, he said that Member National Assembly and Erra Council Member Dr Ibadullah, Deputy Chairman and other seniors authority officials, stakeholders played a key role for reaching an amicable solution on various issues related to the payments and construction of health, education, power and infrastructure projects in the difficult terrain of Mansehra, Shangla and Kohistan districts.
About the Kuwait funded projects, he added that out of 31 projects of education 24 have been completed while speedy construction work is underway for completion of remaining seven projects. He said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 23 projects funded by Saudi Fund for Development are also showing progress as out of 23 projects, 14 have been completed.
The DG City Development Project Zafar Hussain Wahla told the meeting that the progress of ongoing projects including road, education, health, power and environment etc are in progress and expressed hope that these will be completed within time. About the new projects he said that in Muzaffarabad 35, Bagh 33 and in Rawalakot 17 projects have been launched.
He added that out of total 123 projects 90 new projects have been initiated while 16 have been completed in Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot. In the meeting, deputy chairman expressed his satisfaction and directed the concerned directorates to complete on-going projects on priority basis.
DG Planning Pervaiz Hayat Niazi said that during the current month 37 projects have been completed in education, roads and governance in AJK and KP provinces, adding that the majority of schools for girls and boys were completed in Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, and Abbottabad and in Bagh (AJK). He added that so far 1707 projects of education, health and governance are under construction and among these 265 projects progress are more than 70 per cent.
While giving details of projects, Pakhtunkhwa Earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority Director General Kamran Zeb said that out of 6,887 projects so far 4,653 projects haven completed while 1,462 are in construction phase. Director General State Earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority (SERRA) Sardar Muhammad Rahim Khan said in AJK out of 7,626 so far 5,008 projects have been completed while 2,628 projects are in construction phase.
The deputy chairman Erra directed the concerned department officials to complete on going projects within stipulated time. He expressed his satisfaction over the pace of work in earthquake hit areas and directed for quality and durable work. Director General (DG) State Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority AJK (SERRA), DG Pakhtunkhwa Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority (PERRA), senior member board of revenue, Projects Directors, Erra officials and NESPAK representatives also attended the meeting.
