Power shortfall remained 3300MW for second consecutive day with rise in mercury throughout the country. According to the NTDC sources, power generation during last 24 hours stood at 13500MW against a demand of 16800MW, leaving the system with a total shortfall of 3300MW. Meanwhile, power generation through hydel, thermal and IPPs was 4500MW, 2100MW and 6900MW respectively.
The industrial sector was the worst hit of the situation, as load shedding schedule for industry was increased accordingly. However, the domestic consumers have yet to feel the pinch, as they are not being exposed to severe load shedding like a few preceding years in the country. The NTDC sources also revealed that the LESCO circuit E9Q1 was over loaded due to tripping of 132KV. They said the trip coil has been damaged. Accordingly, the Southern areas of the city including Defence V, PWR, Bata grid stations were over exposed to load shedding. However, a restoration of the electricity took place in the late wee hours.
