Punjab Minister for Mines and Minerals Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan has underlined the need for taking required measures to prevent illegal stone crushing at Margalla Hills, Texila. Chairing a meeting at Commissioner Office here he directed the concerned departments to devise a joint strategy to stop the illegal activity and urged Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) to disconnect electricity of stone crushers eating Margalla Hills.
Commissioner Zahid Saeed, District Co-ordination Officer Sajid Zafar Dall, RPO Umer Hayat Lalika and representatives of concerned departments attended the meeting. Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan termed Margalla hill's a precious asset and said government was fully aware of the obligations to protect them from environmental hazards. He said that provincial government was making all out efforts to purge Margalla hills in Taxila of the stone crushing mafia in line with directives of the superior courts. He called for setting up special check posts to check illegal crushing and transportation of stones, besides bringing the people involved in this unlawful activity to task.
