Metro Bus service for Karachi demanded : legalisation of Qingqi rickshaws criticised
Karachi Transport Ittehad Committee president Muhammad Ashraf Banglori on Sunday criticised the legalisation of Qingqi rickshaws by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Banglori said the mega city of Karachi needed the Metro Bus service but not Qingqi rickshaws. He said the legalisation of Qingqi rickshaws would deprive the citizens of Karachi of an advanced transport system.
He said the horse carts, Qingqi rickshaws and mini-buses were used for travelling in Lahore but now the Chief Minister of Punjab had started the Metro Bus project for the people of Punjab and was providing advanced transportation facilities to them, while the Sindh Chief Minister keeping the old style, had not started any single project in the public transport sector.
Banglori said Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah knows the main reason of traffic jams in Karachi was Qingqi rickshaws.
He advised the Sindh Chief Minister to visit neighboring countries and witnessed himself the progress made in the public transport sector and sign accord with them for initiation of mega transport projects in the province and in the metropolis.
