Initially named as the Lahore Improvement Trust, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) was renamed in 1975, through the LDA legal Act of Punjab Assembly. TEPA and WASA are the two sectors of LDA.

With a vision to develop and modernise Lahore, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is a dynamic, public-friendly organisation engaged in the development and provision of civic amenities and public facilities for residents. Besides development, modernisation and the constant up-gradation of existing urban infrastructure, the LDA is also constantly engaged in future planning for the city's expansion based on population growth trends and emerging urban needs, with effective strategies for urbanisation and fully transparent implementation being the key responsibilities.
Since 2010, the LDA has embarked upon a vision to modernise Lahore and bring it at par with other leading cities of South Asia by the year 2020. With the realisation of this vision Lahore will be one of Asia's leading centers of trade and commerce, industry and culture, besides its historical significance.
