Development of the youth: Punjab government spending huge resources: minister
Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Syed Haroon Ahmed Sultan Bukhari has said that youth is our precious asset and the goal of progress and prosperity can be achieved by empowering our young generation. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of students on Wednesday. The Minister said that Punjab government is spending huge resources for the development of the youth, equipping them with modern knowledge and making them skilful.
He said that provision of resources to the youth is a guarantee to a bright future of the country. He said that Punjab government took revolutionary steps for empowering youth during its previous five years' tenure and spent resources on the welfare of the youth by considering trust of the nation. He said that Punjab Educational Endowment Fund is an exemplary programme of Punjab government through which a large number of deserving talented male and female students, facing financial constraints, are completing their education.
Syed Haroon Ahmed Sultan Bukhari said that the volume of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has increased to a sum of Rs 10 billion and will reach 20 billion rupees within next five years. He said that internship programme has been started for educated youth under which a monthly stipend of Rs 12,000 is being given to the youth and they are imparted training in private institutions.
He said that the future of Pakistan is linked with youth and that is why Punjab government has started revolutionary programmes for the empowerment of youth and billions of rupees have been provided for these programmes. The Minister said that more than 50,000 deserving male and female students are studying in foreign educational institutions through Punjab Educational Endowment Fund. He said that more than two million laptops worth eight billion rupees were distributed among students on merit and a programme has also been made for distribution of laptops among talent students this year. He said that first IT university, e-learning programme and IT labs are polishing the talent of youth.
