Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be the chief guest at the LCCI Achievement Awards 2014 ceremony scheduled for the last week of August. President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Sohail Lashari stated this while addressing a press conference on Thursday. The LCCI Chairman Achievement Awards Committee Aftab Ahmad Vohra also spoke on the occasion.
Briefing the newsmen about the upcoming event and its background, the LCCI President said that in the year 2005, the Lahore Chamber took the initiative to recognise the services of the businessmen of this great City of Lahore who are contributing to the national exchequer in a big way.
He said that this was the beginning of LCCI Achievement Awards and the response was marvellous as not only the business community but the government circles also lauded the LCCI for giving due recognition to the business community of Lahore. He said that LCCI Achievement Awards 2014 is the 9th function. Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI Achievement Awards Committee Chairman Aftab Ahmad Vohra informed the journalists about the criterion set for the selection of the award winners.
He said that the methodology is very transparent so the right businessmen could be able to win the award. Unveiling the criterion for the applicants is: Investment during the financial year 2012-13, turnover during financial year 2012-13, establishment of new units during financial year 2012-13, percentage increase in export/trade turnover during the last three years, tax paid by the company or group of companies, dividend declared to share holders during financial year 2012-13 and research & Development during financial year 2012-13.
He said that the sectors selected for the Award are: agricultural pesticides, artificial leather, assemblers, auto parts, banking & modaraba, canvas & tents industry, carpets, cement, chemicals, construction, electric engineering, energy, engineering, fashion & clothing, food, fresh fruits and vegetables, gelatin, gem & jewellery, home appliances, hosiery & garments, housing & innovation, information technology, leather, leather footwear, leather garments, manmade fiber, milk & dairy, mining & mineral, edible oil & ghee, outdoor advertisement, paints, paper industry, pharmaceutical, photo goods & graphic arts, plastics, poultry industry, private hospital, processing & packaging, rice, safety equipment, services, social welfare, spices, steel, sugar, telecom industry, textile, tyres & tubes and young entrepreneur.
