Met Office on Saturday forecast a tropical storm 'Nanauk' is likely to dissipate in the next 2-3 days in the Arabian Sea. Isolated rain/thundershowers are expected to hit parts of lower Sindh in the next 2-3 days, following the dissipating tropical storm, it said.
The storm is now inactive and likely to scale down its strength. It is located at latitude of 21.2 N and longitude of 64 E some 530 kilometers south-west off Karachi shoreline, the office said. The storm has weakened into a well-marked low pressure area (LPA) in the central Arabian Sea in the last 24 hours. "This well-marked LPA has moved north-eastwards with a gradual decreasing trend during last 6 hours and now located at latitude 21.2°N and longitude. 64.0 about 530 kms in south-west of Karachi," it said.
The storm is likely to dissipate over the north Arabian Sea in the next 2-3 days, it said, adding that the fishermen of Sindh and Balochistan coasts may resume their activities by now. "Under the influence of this well-marked LPA some isolated rain/thundershowers are expected in lower Sindh during next 2-3 days," it said.
The office in its daily forecast said that dust-thunderstorm/rain is expected at isolated places in lower Sindh and the Makran coast in the next 24 hours. "Mainly very hot and dry weather is expected over most parts of the country," it added. It forecast partly cloudy weather for Karachi with chances of dust-thunderstorm-light rain during the period with maximum temperature between 36 degree centigrade and 38 degree centigrade.
