Forty villages in Thatta have been inundated while the water level has begun to decrease in Badin as Cyclone Nanauk is likely to strike the coastal areas of Oman today (Sunday). Residents of Thatta have been forced to take refuge in boats and have mended breaches in protective embankments on their own in several areas. The administration has also not been in contact with the residents of these areas.
Meanwhile, residents of Badin have started returning to their homes after the water level decreased. In Balochistan seawater has entered Dam, Sonmiani, Gadani shipyard and several other coastal areas as people are shifting to safer areas. As many as 25 boats were damaged when waves hit beach in Jewani area along Balochistan coast. According to the MET Office, the intensity of Cyclone Nanauk has decreased but fishermen are still advised to stay on shore till Sunday.
