Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Khawaja Muhammad Usman said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif allocated 36 percent of total budget for Southern Punjab to alleviate the miseries of people and urged that these funds must be spent on the development schemes properly and past mistakes should not be repeated when funds were taken back to Lahore.
He hailed that Government's decision to increase taxes on wealthier people, increasing taxes on big houses and luxury vehicles, however, prescribed more funding for education and health sectors. He also sought more funding and reforms in police department to transform it into an efficient body to provide relief to the people.
He said Rs 82 billion are not sufficient for police. The Punjab budget 2014-15 has attracted good reaction from people belonging to different sections of society and they appreciated the allocation for South Punjab. Muhammad Anees Khawaja President of DGCCI said Punjab budget is balanced and poor-friendly. He hailed that Government allocation for Ramazan package of Rs 5 billion and establishment of Sahulat Bazaars and Dastar Khawan during the holy month.
