A representative delegation of Turk Police headed by Dr Mustafa Ozguler met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, here on Saturday. Reforms in police system and further promotion of co-operation in modern training programme were discussed at the meeting. Provincial Minister Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd), Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and concerned officials were present on the occasion.
Talking to Turk police delegation, the Chief Minister said the Punjab government was bringing reforms in police system. He said that better training, provision of latest equipment and technology were being used for capacity-building of police. He said 16 percent increase had been made in the resources of police in the budget of new fiscal year. He appreciated the co-operation of Turk police regarding modern training of police.
Shahbaz Sharif said besides provision of training to officers and officials of Punjab police, Turk police experts would also prepare master trainers. He said the use of information technology was essential for curbing crimes and Punjab government had adopted an effective strategy in that regard. He said that Integrated Command and Control Centre was being established in the provincial metropolis for eliminating crimes.
The Chief Minister said "we are thankful to Turk government, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and Turk police on extending co-operation in various projects in Pakistan especially in Punjab." He said historic friendly and brotherly relations existed between Pakistan and Turkey, adding that relation of friendship had now been changed to strong economic co-operation. He said people of Pakistan and Turkey loved each other and hearts of people of both the countries beat together.
Turk Police Head Dr Mustafa Ozguler, speaking on the occasion said that efficiency of Punjab police would be enhanced in accordance with the vision of Shahbaz Sharif. He said Turk police would cooperate with Punjab government for modern training and reforms in police system, adding Pak-Turk friendship is strengthening due to leadership qualities of CM Shahbaz Sharif.
