On the instruction of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Advisor on Health Khwaja Salman Rafique visited Turkish Colony Muzaffargarh on Sunday to probe the deaths of labourers who were electrocuted while laying gas pipeline.
Talking to media, Rafique said that it is a tragic incident and Chief Minister Punjab and the provincial government have expressed grief over it. He said that he has come to Muzaffargarh on the instructions of Chief Minister. He said that an initial report into the incident has been sought from district administration by Sunday evening which will be presented to the Chief Minister who will constitute a committee of experts to probe the matter. He said that the elements found guilty of laxity and carelessness will be awarded stern punishment.
He said that Punjab government fully shared the grief of the bereaved families and he will also go to Pattoki to offer condolences to the families of the victims. He said that all-out assistance will be extended to the heirs of the deceased labourers. He said that a trustee of Tayyip Erdogan Trust Hospital announced financial assistance of five lakh rupees for the family of each victim.
