Inland Revenue Audit Officers Association of Pakistan (IRAOAP) on Tuesday decided to utilise all legal options including strike call to secure the rights of promotion. This was decided through a resolution adopted in the meeting of the association which was presided over by Chairman Javed Hussain.
The association also appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the situation. President Shafiq Anwar, Vice President (Punjab), Mian Muhammad Yousaf, Vice President (KPK), Tauqeer Ahmad, Vice President (Sindh), Ghulam Shabbir Baloch, Vice President (Balochistan), Fida-ul-Haq, Secretary General Muhammad Shafiq, Secretary Co-ordination Zafar Iqbal, Secretary Information Fareed Pariyo, Secretary Finance Haroon Khattak and members of executive committee were also present on the occasion.
In his address, Javed Hussain said that audit officers of the Inland Revenue are not being promoted despite clear instructions of the High Court and the FBR is using delaying tactics to give their due rights to these officers. He further said Sindh High Court in 2007 ordered the FBR to promote these officers in the next grade besides giving them matching authority but a lobby of high FBR officers was reluctant to implement the court orders and using delaying tactics.
The association further said that in the Finance Bill 2012-13, through an amendment powers of Grade 17 of Inland Revenue officers were withdrawn while powers of Grade 16 officers were not withdrawn. Resultantly, audit officers were given under the Inland Officers.
