A special meeting of the Punjab Cabinet held here on Wednesday with Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in the chair expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of human lives in a clash with police in Lahore on Tuesday. The cabinet also offered fateha for those killed in the tragic incident. The meeting decided to send a delegation of the cabinet to Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat, to express condolences with the leaders of Minhaj-ul-Quran.
Expressing his grief and shock over the tragic incident, chief minister said that the report of judicial commission constituted to probe into the incident would be fully implemented. He said that no one would be allowed to change the evidence of the incident. Shahbaz Sharif said that CCPO, DIG (Operations) and Model Town's SP have been transferred so that no one could influence the investigation. The CM said that his past was witness to the fact that he never compromised on justice.
He reiterated that deterrent punishment would be given to the persons responsible for this tragedy. The cabinet ministers said that the sentiments expressed by the chief minister at a press conference immediately after Tuesday's incident reflected the feelings of the cabinet members, Punjab government and public representatives of the province. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, chief secretary, IGP and other concerned officials. Secretary Home gave a detailed briefing to the cabinet about the loss of human lives and the background of the incident.
