KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the government and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are quite eager to welcome and host IDPs from North Waziristan Agency due to military operation there. He was addressing media conference here in CM Secretariat he said IDPs are their special guests and we will discharge our national responsibility to look after them in befitting manner.
He was addressing media conference at CM Secretariat Peshawar. PTI provincial president Azam Khan Swati, General Secretary Khalid Masood, Secretary Information Ayesha Gulalai MNA, President Southern region and Minister Revenue Ali Amin Gandapur, Minister E&T Mian Jamshedudin KakaKhel, Advisor to CM on Economic Affairs Rafaqatullah Babar, PDMA and other relief organisations authorities were also present on this occasion. He said they learnt about the operation in NWA a bit late but we have made adequate arrangements for the stay, shelter and needs of IDPs in a short period. Provincial government, he said, has immediately released Rs 350 million for IDPs while PTI workers will also extend all out support to them by visiting and helping them in the relief camps.
He further revealed that besides arrangements for food, health and transportation of IDPs at border areas of the province including southern districts, polio teams have also been deputed to administer polio drops to children before entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Chief Minister said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is presently facing a war like situation. "The government knew about the military operation late through media but we hurriedly released Rs 350 million for IDPs and also established relief camps at border areas of the province including FR Bannu where all basic facilities including electricity, water and other requirements are made available", he added and further elaborated one thousand tents, mats and other essential commodities have also been arranged in the first leg.
He said that so far about 70 thousand IDPs have entered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However he said that only one family stayed at the relief camps because most of the IDPs from NWA had relatives in southern districts including Bannu to host them at their homes as per their traditions. He said that federal government has promised Rs 500 million and NDMA Rs 100 million for the IDPs. He said provincial government has arranged a food package of Rs 7 thousand for each family per month while every family entering the province will be given Rs 5 thousand for one time as non-food item. Similarly he said that transport has also been arranged to carry IDPs from border to the relief camps. He said that IDPs will also be given Ramzan Package during the holy month of Ramzan.
