Jamaat-i-Islami central Chief Siraj-ul-Haq while terming the government decision to launch military operation in North Waziristan Agency as 'unilaterally', saying the incumbent PML-Nawaz led government will be responsible for the repercussions alone.
"The country is under crisis, whereas danger is hovering over democracy, parliamentary system and national integrity, said Siraj-ul-Haq said while addressing a news conference here at Al-Markaz Islami, the JI provincial head-quarter here on Wednesday. He also strongly condemned police atrocities and inhuman violence against Awami Tehreek's workers in Punjab and added that these police torture recall the cruelties done in the dictatorial regimes.
The JI central ameer and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Siraj said that changes in the politics of the region except the neighbouring Afghanistan and India, but in Pakistan disorder, instability, disintegration and irresponsible attitude of rulers turned in a bad shape. Priority should make for internal and external fronts, he said adding armed forces are the forces of the country and government has the power to use it, while the government is responsible to its masses.
Flanked by JI FATA general secretary Munsif Khan, and party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter secretary information Israullah advocate, Siraj said that it was needed to initiate relief activities for the internally displaced families, due to military operation and government should extend a developmental package of Rs 300billion for tribal areas. "It was duty of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take on board the nation, national leadership and parliament before launching military operation in North Waziristan Agency, he maintained.
"In last All Parties Conference (APC) held in chair of Premier Nawaz, all the political forces mandated the government for dialogue, but the government from the day first seriously expressed, rather it remained in a state of 'one step forward and two steps back", he alleged. The decision of military action in Waziristan was like a thunder upon the tribesmen, as democratic government was believed for a democratic decision but it failed, Siraj further said. Thousand of tribal families were compelled to migrate from their hometowns in search of safer places in the present extremely hot weather, where they were confronting immense difficulties, he said. He also said that if these displaced people migrate to Afghanistan and where they met with the anti-state actors and use them against own country, and then who will be responsible for that. The incumbent PML-N led government will be responsible for its unilateral decision on military action and for the repercussions in wake of military operation, he said.
The JI Chief further said that virtually a military assault in the tribal areas for a long time was being carried out owing to which terrorism, miscreants activities were alarmingly increased, and suddenly Premier Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief Raheel Sharif decided for military action in Waziristan and closed the doors for dialogues. The decision for military assault was a unilateral decision of the government, as national leadership and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was not taken in confidence, he alleged. In reply to a query, Siraj said that government should keep the doors open for negotiations with Taliban in the larger interest of the country and masses.
