ISLAMABAD: The accountability court Wednesday summoned two more prosecution witnesses on June 6, in a reference regarding assets beyond known sources of income against Ishaq Dar.

During today’s hearing, defense counsel Qazi Misbah concluded his cross examination with both witnesses Muhammad Azeem and Masood Ghani who were earlier testified by the court.

Accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir conducted hearing of the reference against former finance minister Ishaq Dar and other co-accused filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

During cross-examination, Azeem told the court that an amount of Rs 5.41 million was transferred to the Hajveri Foundation’s account on February 13, 2007. Similarly, an amount of Rs 10.07 million was transferred to the account of Mrs. Shahnawaz on Januray 8, 2008.

He said an amount of Rs 40 million was transferred to the account of Raja Sarfraz Ahmed on April 13, 2015 that was withdrawn later from the Bank Al-Flah Branch F-7 on July 12.

During proceeding, the NAB prosecutor asked the defense counsel to conclude his cross-examination as soon as possible and avoid repeating questions.

On which, Qazi Misbah said that he was asking the necessary questions regarding the case.

Meanwhile, President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Saeed Ahmed, a co-accused in the reference, filed a plea before the court seeking acquittal from the case.

He stated that prosecution could not provide evidence against him, saying that his signatures on documents did not match in accordance with forensic report. No witness had spoken his name so far, he added.

His counsel Adnan Shuja Advocate requested the court to acquit his client as he also wanted to go to Saudi Arabia `to perform Umrah.

The court adjourned the hearing till June 6.
