Capt (retd) Safdar concludes statement in Avenfield property reference
ISLAMABAD: Capt. (Retd) Muhammad Safdar Wednesday concluded his statement before accountability court in Avenfield property reference.
However, the court fixed June 5, for final arguments from both sides after the three accused recorded their statements in the case.
Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir heard the case filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz’s counsel submitted application on behalf of their clients seeking one-day exemption from hearing.
While recording his statement Safdar categorically denied any association with Avenfied property. He said that many of the business dealings occurred before his marriage.
He said the letter by Mossack Fonseca did not concern him.
Safdar adopted the stance that accepting the letter as evidence would be contrary to holding a free trial.
When asked about the Capital FZE certificate, Safdar said that the certificate did not concern him.
Earlier, the NAB prosecutor expressed concern over the exemption application of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Meanwhile, the court also summoned JIT head Wajid Zia on Thursday for cross-examination by the defense counsel Khawaja Haris in Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
