The district administration Peshawar launched crackdown against heroin addicts. According to details on the directives of the provincial government, a special team headed by Assistant Commissioner (AC) arrested 16 addicts and shifted them to Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) for rehabilitation. The operation will be conducted on daily basis.
For the rehabilitation of the addicts, a special unit had also been established in the KTH and in this connection Assistant Commissioner along with District Officer, Social Welfare, Mohammad Tahir and local police launched a crackdown against the heroin addict.
The raiding team arrested 16 addicts from the parts of Faqirabad, Bacha Khan Chowk and Shahi Bagh areas and for rehabilitation shifted them to KTH. On this occasion, some addicts even offered resistance and attacked police with sharp blades. However, police personnel remained unhurt. Meanwhile, district administration also sealed a factory in Faqirabad area of the city for alleged manufacturing of injurious and poor quality snacks.
