Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday has directed law enforcement agencies to provide foolproof security to Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri upon his arrival on Monday (tomorrow). An official said that the Interior Minister asked high-ups of police of the Rawalpindi/Islamabad to adopt strict security measures to ensure safety of participants of PAT rally and other general public on the occasion of Qadri's Interior Minister gave these directions while presiding over a meeting on Saturday, which was attended by the senior officials of police and district administration.
Keeping in view the increasing terror threats due to ongoing military operation, Nisar also directed Chief Commissioner Islamabad to impose a ban on all sort of congregations in the federal Capital. The meeting reviewed the security situation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and Chief Commissioner Rawalpindi and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad briefed the participants on the security plan devised for the twin cities, official added.
Nisar Ali Khan also asked the police and security agencies to further strengthen security in Rawalpindi and Islamabad in wake of recently launched military operation in North Wazristan Agency. He asked police high-ups to review the overall security of the federal Capital with particular reference to entry and exit points and identification of sensitive buildings in order to take security measures accordingly. Put security on high alert at all entry and exit points of the city and conduct search operation in Rawalpindi so that peace should be maintained in the twin cities, he said.
