Business circles have appreciated apolitical role of Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, saying that presence of a non-controversial personality in government is a blessing in disguise for Sharif brothers. The role of Governor Punjab remained under discussion throughout Monday after he intervened and convinced Dr Tahirul Qadri for an end to impasse on his historic return to Pakistan to bring revolution.
They said Governor has provided face saving both sides and resolved the issue amicably. According to them, the conditions of Dr Qadri were quite tough for the government and it was appearing at one stage that the crisis-like situation would last for long. However, the Governor appeared on the scene as a Trojan horse for Dr Qadri who surrendered before him while criticising his political bosses.
The business circles have further pointed out that the role of Governor is winning GSP plus from the European Parliament was again a spectacular role. They said there were many ifs and buts engulfing the voting for the GSP plus status to Pakistan in the EU Parliament. The Governor Punjab jumped into the situation at the right time and used all his good relations with the EU parliamentarians and defeated the ill-designs of India and Bangladesh.
It is for the second time that the Governor Sarwar has come forward and played a vital role in breaking the ice and let the situation calm down on political front. They said the repeated role of Governor suggests that the office of the Governor should be exclusively meant for an impartial person like Chaudhry Sarwar in order to keep the political process sailing smoothly ahead. The business circles have also eulogised the constructive role of the Governor Punjab in launching a drive for clean drinking water for public school children. They said this initiative of the Governor would go long in the history of Punjab.
