Khyber Union, a welfare organisation of Khyber Agency, urged federal government to immediately set up a body in light of decision of Peshawar High Court, which aiming to ensure payment of compensation to the Tehsil Bara residents affected by the ongoing military operation in the tribal agency.
The demand was made by Khyber Union president Bazaar Gul along with general secretary Mubjeebur Rehman, Ahmad Gul and Zargoon Shah while addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, here on Monday. Gul Bazaar said that a member bench of Peshawar High Court had given verdict for constitution of commission following a petition, filed by the Khyber Union, in which the superior court directed the federal government to set up a body to ensure payment of compensation to the Bara residents affected by the ongoing military operation in the tribal agency.
Khyber Union president said the court judgement further asked the federal government, ministry of Saffron in collaboration with additional chief secretary (Fata) provide a forum for lodging complaints about civilian casualties and losses who should probe the matter about authenticity of complaint as well as quantum of loss sustained and the remedy for the wrong caused to the inhabitants. The PHC decision, he further directed the federal government should evaluate by forming body about actual financial, businesses and precious human losses during last five military actions in Tehsil Bara, of Khyber Agency.
Khyber Union president urged the government and relevant authorities to immediate form body in the light of Peshawar High Court decision, to extend compensation package to affected people, by military action in the Bara. He warned that if commission wasn't constituted within a two-month, then they will submit a contempt of court case against the federal government.
