The Supreme Court on Monday allowed Advocate Taufiq Asif, who had filed a petition against the anti-judiciary campaign, to amend his petition. A single-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard a petition filed against a private news channel's anchorperson (Mubshair Luqman), Director General (DG) Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Interior Secretary.
During the course of proceedings, Asif pleaded the court to allow him to make some amendments to his petition, as he wanted to include some new facts in it. He further pleaded the court to take action against those involved in displaying anti-judiciary banners.
He said the anti-judiciary campaign was not restricted to Islamabad, as such banners could be seen on all major highways, GT Road and district courts of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The court, while allowing the petitioner to amend his petition, adjourned further proceedings for an indefinite period. Justice Jawad S Khawaja has already recused himself from that plea.
