The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will give 2.5 million dollars to 50,000 displaced families at displaced people' camps in the Bannu district. The first UAE humanitarian aid convoy is due to leave Islamabad on Tuesday to reach the families on Wednesday, before the start of the holy month of Ramazan.
The project's administration said the aid came within the framework of the initiatives of President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his continuous efforts to provide the poor with a respectable and decent life, Emirates news agency WAM reported. The UAE PAP said that 3,550 tonnes of food rations would be distributed in the form of 71kg food baskets, each containing various food products such as flour, rice, dates, sugar, salt, lentils, oil and tea, sufficient for one person. These aid baskets will be delivered to help protect against hunger and malnutrition in the immediate future. The UAE PAP has distributed 103,000 food baskets since 2012, valued at $5.52 million, to displaced families in various districts across the country.
