The administration of Bajaur Agency on Monday expressed concern over slow pace of work on foreign sponsored uplift projects and directed the relevant officials to complete the projects without any delay. The directives were given by Political Agent (PA) Syed Abdul Jabar Shah during a meeting with the representatives of foreign funded organisations here in his office.
The officials on the occasion briefed the PA about the development activities of the ongoing schemes. Official of the World Bank sponsored project informed the PA of its activities. He said works of 41km long Emergency Rural Road project is in full swing and is trying to complete the project by the end of April 2015. The official of Tribal Areas Rural to Urban Centres Conversion Initiative (TARUCCI) also informed the participants about its activities. He said first phase of installation of solar streetlights in Khar and Sadiq Abad had been completed while the 2nd phase of installation of solar lights would be started after release of funds. He said construction of road project in Khar was under way and would be completed by the end of August 2014. The PA asked the relevant officials to take all possible measures to ensure the completion of projects within stipulated time.
Shah expressed reservations over standard of works in the scheme and said that most of development activities did not met with the standard set by the relevant international donor's agencies. He directed the officials to follow the international standard and quality in the construction of schemes. He asked the relevant officials to ensure transparency and excellence in all development projects and serious action would be taken those who found in fraud in the schemes. The PA said that the administration is committed to its commitment of zero corruption in the development schemes and efforts have been step up to maintain quality and standard in uplift schemes following special directives of KP governor.
