"The tempo of police ongoing search and strike operation must be reflected in police action against the terrorists in settled areas," remarked the IGP while presiding over a meeting of all District Police Officers (DPOs) at CPO on Monday. Additional IGPs Operations, Special Branch and FRP, CCPO, DIGs CTD, Operation, Headquarters, PCU and all DPOs throughout the province attended the meeting. All DPOs presented a detailed briefing of law and order and possible reaction of the militants in their respective districts on this occasion.
The Police Chief termed the ongoing operation as the survival of the country and directed the participants to ensure contingency plan for all eventualities and to identify the hub of militants and vulnerable places in their districts and launch intelligence led well thought and well rehearsal action. "We have no other option but to win this war at all cost," maintained the IGP and directed them to co-ordinate with the Rapid Response Force (RRF) in their districts and do Mock Exercise of their action against the terrorists by personally leading it.
The DPOs are further directed to ensure compliance with the provision of the recently passed acts of Tenant Verification and Hotel Security Restriction Act. The IGP further directed the participants to adopt foolproof security measures for busy public places like markets, bus stand, cinemas and banks.
The participants are also directed to check all vehicles particularly the motorcycles through Vehicle Verification System (VVS) and properly interrogate the arrested persons. The Police Chief pointed out that any police check post must serve two purposes, ie to create an effective deterrence against militants and ensure safety of the posted officials and directed the DPOs to personally visit these check posts and ensure compliance with his discussion in this regard. They are also directed to make it sure that all jawans particularly the traffic officers on duties must wear bullet-proof helmet and to introduce budding pair system deployment.
The IGP directed the District Police Officers to personally become a complainant in the extortion and militancy cases and ensure 100 percent conviction in these cases. They are also directed to do Geo-tagging of the occurrences, prepare list of ghost employees, adopt professional approach while handling any incident by securing the crime scene, strictly follow the timeline in the wanted reports to CPO and brief the SDPOs and SHOs about the proceedings of this meeting and strict implementation of these directives in the field.
