Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the country was passing through a difficult phase and prevailing situation demands unity of all political forces to tackle the challenges. This was stated by him while talking to Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Tuesday who called on him here at the Lahore Airport, the sources said.
During the meeting, which lasted for about 30-minute, views were exchanged on matters of mutual interest besides current political situation, the sources added. The sources also claimed that the premier praised Punjab governor for playing his positive role in defusing uncertain situation on Monday.
The governor, according to the sources, apprised the premier about the demands of Allama Tahir-ul-Qadri. Moreover, while talking to media persons after addressing the launching ceremony of French and German editions of "Mazameen-i-Quran-i-Hakim" (subjects of Quran-i-Hakim) compiled by Zahid Malik here at Darbar Hall of Governor's House, the governor said he believes in consensus politics and would continue to play his due role for the betterment of the country.
When asked about his role in overcoming situation created by Tahir-ul-Qadri, the governor said he always strive for forging unity and that was why no political party had any issue with him. Earlier, while addressing the ceremony, the governor said the country was facing manifold challenges and all political and religious leaders must show unity setting aside their petty differences. He further said that difficult situation could be tackled only through forging unity. He said knowledge is power; hence, we must seek guidance from Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He also lauded the services of Zahid Malik and prayed for his long life.
