Gas theft case: LHC turns down plea

The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday turned down a plea of a local PPP leader Tariq Aziz to confirm his interim bail in Rs 950 million gas theft case who managed to escape arrest. Tariq Aziz through counsel argued that the case registered against him was fabricated and a result of political victimisation. He prayed to the court to confirm his interim bail in the case. A state lawyer, however, opposed the plea and argued that the suspect ran his factory in Kot Lakhpat with illegal gas connection from 2010 to 2014.
