The Karachi Stock Exchange and BMA Capital Management Limited organized an Investor Awareness Generation Programme as part of a nation-wide awareness campaign to enhance the investor base in Lahore. Around 450 businessmen, including the Members of Lahore Chamber of Commerce, jewellers, FPCCI members of Lahore chapter, real estate dealers of DHA Lahore, Management Committee Members of Woman Chamber of Commerce, Lahore Division, professionals and people from all walks of life attended the seminar.
Nadeem Naqvi, Managing Director of Karachi Stock Exchange, briefed the participants about the risk and returns of equity markets and urged potential investors to attain knowledge about basics of personal financial planning in order to be able to better design an investment strategy which is in line with their financial goals and needs.
Elaborating on the evolving ecosystem of Pakistan's capital market, the KSE MD said that the exchange as well as the apex regulator had worked hard to improve regulations, corporate structure, systems & procedures of capital market institutions that would allow better governance & transparency, reduce potential conflicts of interest and improve efficiency of stock exchanges, clearing house and depository company; this would better safeguard investors' interest, improve listed companies ability to raise capital and provide a level-playing ground for all market participants.
Talking to Business Recorder, KESC MD Nadeem Naqvi said this year registration of more than 7,000 people has been obtained. People from across the country, including Karachi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Badin, Khairpur, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Northern Areas have become a part of this mega campaign. "We hope that next year more than 10,000 people will register themselves", he added.
