In order to generate donations for the military operation affected displaced tribal families at makeshift camps, various political and religious parties and welfare organisations set-up camps in the provincial capital on Tuesday.
A fund raising camp was set-up by activist of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party at main university road near Spin Jumaat, wherein people were observed extending their full-hearted donations as per their packet position, either in shape of donating cash, medicines or other basic utensils for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency. The political workers were also seemed enthusiastic because of the positive response of the people in donating for a cause.
Talking to this scribe PkMAP provincial leader Arbab Mujeeb said that party workers on the call of central leadership decided to collect donations for the distressed tribal people, owing to ongoing military action in their respective areas of Waziristan Agency. He said that hundreds of thousands of innocent tribal families were passing through a critical and time-testing situations, as most of them left their homes for safer places.
"We all Pakhtuns and countrymen are just like organs of a single human body, he said adding they feel and consider the hardships and miseries confronting the displaced tribal families. Arbab Mujeeb informed that dry food package, medicines and utensils were provided to the displaced families in district Bannu. He said that party workers in Punjab, Karachi and other parts of the country were set-up funds raising camps for the purpose.
Similarly, a donation raising camp was set-up by Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) a welfare wing of the Hafiz Saeed led Jamaatud Dawa outfit, in Peshawar Cantt at main Saddar road. Talking to this scribe, the Dawa provincial spokesperson Hafiz Sadaqat said that the raising donations mainly was aimed to share the grief and hardships of the tribal families affected due to ongoing military operation, and also to extend food items and other basic utensils at the makeshift camps.
Enumerating the steps taken by his foundation one by one, Sadaqat informed that FIF set-up its main relief camp at Kala Masti Khel area of district Bannu, where cooked food items, juices for children, safe drinking water and medical facilities to ailing people were provided for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Besides, he said that two relief camps one each established at main road in Bakakhel, and Kachihri road district Bannu.
In these relief camps dry food package consisting flour, ghee, pulses, rice, tea and sugar etc were provided to 1200 families in first phase, whereas in the second phase about 400 more packages and 100 tents were provided to IDPs taking shelter in homes of their relatives in various parts of the city, Sadaqat said. He also said that 10 trucks loaded with food items from Karachi and Lahore were left for the IDPs.
Sadaqat also informed that FIF also operating a mobile medical camp in which two doctors were there for medical check-up and provide free medicine to the stressed tribal people for various kinds of diseases. He also appreciated the sacrifices and generosities of the people of district Bannu, who recalled the selfless services of Ansar-e-Madina, he added.
