Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid said on Tuesday that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has returned from Canada on his free will but he would leave the country after fulfilling the legal requirements. "A new kind of terrorism has been imported in the country by PAT chief Tahirul Qadri," said Pervaiz Rashid while talking to media persons after inquiring the health of injured policemen at the Jinnah Hospital in Rawalpindi.
"The government did not create any hurdle for the return of Tahirul Qadri," said the minister, adding that law would take its own course for the violent incidents that left over hundred police personnel injured. The information minister said PAT workers 'ruthlessly' beat the policemen and now the law would take its own course. He said torture on policemen on the behest of Tahirul Qadri was shameful as arms of around 100 policemen were fractured and their legs paralysed, besides receiving internal injuries in the incident occurred on Monday. The minister said the video footage had showed Qadri's thugs attacking policemen with bats and sticks.
"Tahirul Qadri was trying to divert people's attention from the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan," said the minister, adding that the PAT chief was trying to introduce new kind of terrorism in the country. "Dr Qadri has introduced a new kind of terrorism, it's an attempt to divert our attention and save cruel militants, but we will fight both forms of terrorism," the minister added.
Pervaiz Rashid said the government would tackle characters like Tahirul Qadri with iron handedly to foil their designs of spreading anarchy in the country. Replying to a question, Pervaiz Rashid said the military operation was continuing in North Waziristan very successfully and all the targets have fully been achieved. Earlier, the minister visited the District Headquarters Hospital and inquired about the health of injured police personnel.
