The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Wednesday arrested Tayyab alias Umer Pagal, a most wanted terrorist, associated with `Ansar ul Ummah, a terrorist organisation, during a search operation. Police officials said that Islamabad police and lnter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officials conducted a joint operation at Sihala area, in Rawalpindi and nabbed the alleged terrorist (20) besides recovering a pistol and 20 live rounds from his possession.
The official said that on a tip-off, high-ups of police constituted a special team comprising SP (Saddar), SP (Industrial Area) and ISI personnel.
The team conducted a raid in Rawat located in the limits of Sihala police station and arrested the 'wanted terrorist' who according to the intelligence reports, was involved in various terrorists activities in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
He said that Umer had undergone training in Miran Shah and came to Islamabad in October 2013 along with one of his accomplices Shah Hussain aka Mansoor for terrorist activities and target killing in the city.
He committed various terrorist activities and was also found involved in smuggling of illegal weapons and other crimes of heinous nature and was then included in the most wanted list of criminals.
He, along with his accomplice, murdered a police officer and attempted suicide attack at an Imambargah in Rawalpindi in which his accomplice was shot dead before he blew himself up.
Tayyab was also the accomplice of those nine terrorists who have been arrested from various areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad since January 2014, he said.
Two cases have also been registered against him at Sihala police station under 3/4 Explosive Act and 324/386/427 PPC. Further investigation is underway.
