Accountant General Punjab and Finance Department has stopped payments of provincial and district governments, employees and vendors of Dera Ghazi Khan amounting to more than Rs 1 billion since June 9, 2014. Taking notice of this illegal stoppage of these payments including salaries, pension, and financial benefit of government servants, contingent, supplies Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood ordered Accountant General Punjab and Secretary Finance to submit report to the office today (Friday) positively.
He has asked as to why the payments of more than one billion rupees are still pending with the government which may lapse on 30th June? Why the user's ID's of the officers and officials working in District Accounts Office Dera Ghazi Khan have been illegally blocked by the acting Accountant General Punjab and Secretary Finance has not taken steps for the payments despite requests from the concerned? Mahmood asked.
He said he has reliable information that the payments of worth more than one billion rupees are blocked on account of salaries, pension, and financial benefit of government servants, contingent, supplies and development projects since 18 days in District Dera Ghazi Khan which is mal-administrated on the part of Accountant General Punjab and Secretary Finance.
