The River Kabul was in medium flood at Nowshera with the discharge of 87,500 cusecs of water and the mighty Indus was in low flood at Kalabagh and Chashma with the flow of 236,900 cusecs and 254,400 cusecs respectively, Flood Warning Centre said here on Monday.
It said 179,800 cusecs water was running in the Indus River at Tarbela dam, 60,900 cusecs in River Jhelum at Mangla and 67,900 cusecs in the River Chenab at Marala Head-works. Punjab Irrigation department is releasing 20,000 cusecs water in the Marala - Ravi Link canal and 13,000 cusecs in the strategic Upper Chenab canal. It is discharging 34,200 cusecs water downstream the Marala head-works. The Sindh province is receiving 169,000 cusecs water at Guddu barrage, 100,100 cusecs at Sukkur Barrage and 20,390 cusecs water at Kotri Barrage from crop irrigation and drinking purposes.
Countrywide forecast for today: Scattered dust thunderstorm/rain with gusty winds is expected over Northern Punjab (with isolated moderate to heavy falls over Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions and Islamabad), Northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (with isolated moderate to heavy falls over Malakand amd Hazara divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir (with isolated relative heavy to heavy falls). Also, isolated dust thunderstorm/rain with strong winds may ensue over Quetta, Zhob divisions, Fata, Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Southern Punjab and Coastal areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
Countrywide further outlook for subsequent 48 hours: Widespread thunderstorm/rain alongwith gusty winds would occur over Northern Punjab (with isolated to scattered heavy falls over Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore divisions and Islamabad), Northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (with isolated to scattered heavy falls over Hazara division), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir (with scattered heavy falls). Isolated thunderstorm/rain may ensue over Fata, Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Southern Punjab.
