At least four persons, including two cops were killed in separate incidents of violence, here on Monday. According to police and rescue sources, two traffic policemen were shot and killed by unidentified motorcyclists in Orangi Town No-1 in the jurisdiction of Orangi Town police station. Police said that the incident occurred when they were deputed in Orangi Town.
Suddenly, two armed motorcyclists came, and opened multiple fires on them from a close range and managed to flee from the scene. They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment; however both of them succumbed to their injuries. The identities of deceased were ascertained as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abdul Karim,40, son of Muhram and head constable Rashid,35, son of Yousaf.
In another case, a sexagenarian named, Muhammad Rehman son of Syed Rehman was allegedly gunned down by one of his relatives near 'Sooti Company' located in Shah Latif Town, in the limits of Shah Latif police station. Police said that the shooting incident took place in Monday morning when Muhammad Rehman was present inside his shop. Meanwhile, an armed man barged into it and opened fire on him and fled from the crime scene. The victim was immediately moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JMPC) for treatment where the doctors pronounced him as dead during the treatment. "The initial investigations have suggested that he might have been killed by one of his close relatives over personnel enmity. Jozaf son of Rehmat allegedly committed suicide while hanging himself with a ceiling fan inside his home in Shah Faisal Colony in the limits of Shah Faisal Colony police station. Separately, a tortured body was recovered from the 'bushes' near Agha Hotel, located in Super Highway.
Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested a member of a banned outfit from MPR Colony with cache of arms, the suspect is said to be involved in the killing of 10 people including a police personnel. CID Police arrested three members of an extortionist group here and recovered arms, extortion slips and a diary containing contact numbers and addresses of traders.
