KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that the successful All Parties Conference (APC) for IDPs has proved that all political, religious parties, social workers and business community are united for the assistance of the affectees of North Waziristan operation.
He said their next strategy was making arrangements for stay and facilities more organised. For that purpose, he adding, the whole official machinery had been activated. However, he said the sudden arrival of the millions of homeless IDPs and making arrangements for them was a difficult phase, adding it required maximum resources and volunteers.
He said that time had arrived that all welfare and missionary organisations and volunteers extended the support in preventing any human tragedy. The chief minister was talking to the delegations of Ummah Welfare Trust and Imran Khan Foundation here in his office at CM Secretariat on Monday. On this occasion, Chairman, Ummah Welfare Trust, Maulana Mohammad Idrees, Country Co-ordinator Said Imran; provincial president PTI Azam Swati, General Secretary Khalid Masood, Chief Secretary, KP Amjad Ali Khan were also present.
On this occasion, Ummah Welfare Trust announced a donation of Rs 400 million for the IDPs and said the trust wanted the establishment of tent village for the IDPs in district Bannu, where complete arrangements would be made for the provision of food package, utensils, cooked food, drinking water, medical camp, schools, mosque and summer kits to affectees. Similarly, food package would also be distributed in other IDPs camps.
The chairman of the trust said that they annually distributed the relief items of Rs 500 million. However, he added that now the whole fund had been allocated for the affectees of North Waziristan to extend them better hospitality and support. The chief minister while appreciating the welfare programme of the trust said he was also impressed of the educational role of Ummah Children Academy, Nowshera where orphans students were provided free quality education and accommodation.
The CM also appreciated the assistance provided to the affectees under the auspices of Imran Khan Foundation and expressed the hope that all those welfare organisations in consultation with PDMA and district administration would work in a comprehensive manner to bear better results and not only redress the complaints of IDPs, but also extend them hospitality in a more effective manner.
He was confident that that political, religious leaders and social workers from across the country would extend support in the provision of relief to IDPs and would not hesitate from extending open heart donations, deployment of volunteers for facilitation of the affectees in their short and temporary stay.
