The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) will meet today (Thursday) for taking up Karachi-Multan-Lahore Motorway project as well as acquisition of land for setting up of Free Trade Zone at Gwadar, it is learnt. Sources said the Ecnec would meet with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair to take up as many as nine-point agenda including Prime Minister''s National Project (revised) for provision of laptops to the talented students.
Other items on agenda of the meeting are: (i) revised project for raising Balochistan Constabulary; (ii) establishment of Information Technology (IT) Management Sciences and Telecom Institution at Islamabad (second revised); (iii) widening and improvement of Kalat-Chaman-Quetta Road section of National Highway. The Ecnec would take up the project for evacuation of power from wind power at Jumpir and Gharo wind clusters and take up Hassanabadal (Bhuran) Havelian Expressway as well as Karachi Lahore Motorway Project construction - Sukkur-Multan Section. The meeting would also review a project for rehabilitation and upgradation of Trimmu Barrage and Panjnad headworks.
