Apropos to an oped, 'Response to IDPs', carried by Business Recorder on Monday, the writer has presented an objective analysis of the situation. She has made a very significant point in relation to government's response to the IDPs by stating that "[W]hat has also been reported is that the camps set up by the federal government are not favoured by the IDPs who are opting to either stay with their relatives/friends or rent accommodation as they are dissatisfied with the government established camps."
The question is: why has government failed to do the required planning to make the best possible arrangements at camps with a view to ensuring that almost all IDPs stay at the government-designated camps? The situation, therefore, lends a lot of credibility to the argument that the federal government has been complacent towards the IDP challenge.
