"The government has decided to grant 50 percent increase in judicial allowance to the employees of the court." This was told to the Lahore High Court's Finance Secretary Punjab in a petition filed by LHC employees against delay in provision of the increased judicial and ad-hoc allowances.
Appearing before Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Finance Secretary Punjab Jahanzeb Khan stated that the government decided in principle to grant the 50 percent increase in the judicial allowance with effect from July 01, 2010 on a par as admissible to the officials of the high courts in other provinces.
Justice Mansoor directed him to submit a schedule of payment regarding arrears of the increased allowance on next hearing (July 17). The court asked the LHC registrar to send a summary detailing demand of payment to finance secretary in this regard. The secretary, however, expressed reservations on the grant of ad-hoc allowance to the employees due to certain complications. The judge put off the matter of ad-hoc allowance for hearing. The petitioners said the federal government had announced 50 percent increase in judicial and ad-hoc relief allowance for employees of all high courts in the country. They said employees of Supreme Court and all high courts except LHC had been given the allowances.
