The country's import of mobile phones has increased by four percent to 564.296 million dollars from July 2013 to May 2014, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) report said. The import of mobile phones recorded an increase of 19.028 million dollars from July 2013 to May 2014 as compared to the handsets import of 545.268 million dollars in the same period of last fiscal year, PBS mentioned.
According to PBS, in May 2014 the import of mobile phones surged by 16.58 million dollars (53 percent) to 48.076 million dollars as compared to the handsets import of 31.496 million dollars in May 2013. Import of other apparatuses declined by 239.777 million dollars (29.21 percent) to 581.056 million dollars from July 2013 to May 2014 as compared the apparatus import of 820.833 million dollars in the same period of last fiscal year. In May 2014, import of apparatuses went up by 21.898 million dollars (44.04 percent) to 71.616 million dollars as compared to the apparatuses import of 49.718 million dollars in May 2013, PBS report mentioned.
